Glacier Nordic skiers compete in Jackson Hole
Thirteen youth from the Glacier Nordic Ski Team traveled to Jackson Hole this past weekend for the Intermountain Division of the US Ski & Snowboard Youth Champs races.
The races attracted more than 250 skiers from Montana, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming and Alaska. Youth Champs is the largest regional racing event for U14 cross-country skiers. Sunday finished with a mass start classic race. The races saw some big fields with 48 girls and 57 boys racing in the U14 category. Sunday saw significant snowfall making for some tough classic skiing.
The U16 boys had a great weekend with Ruedi Steiner and Nate Ingelfinger competing for the team and finishing first and second in their events. Steiner had the wins in the skate and classic races and Ingelfinger in the skier cross with the top overall time for the day. The U14 girls, all racing at the bottom of their age group, all turned in solid performances.
Maeve Ingelfinger led the group with a seconnd place finish in the skier cross and a top 10 in the classic race. Isabelle Cooke was third in the skier cross. In the U12 boy’s category, Owen Croskrey had top 10 finishes in all events.
