An Arizona-based developer submitted plans to build a high-end condo development with a clubhouse on the site of the old North Valley Hospital on 13th Street. The project proposed 51 homes on the 7-acre site along the river.

Feb. 18, 1999

Whitefish Police received about 10 calls reporting an injured moose that had been making its way around town. The “good-sized” moose, as callers described it, had a broken rear leg and apparently hobbled from Sixth Street and Spokane Avenue down along the river and to Park Avenue.

Feb. 22, 1989

Just as the Bulldogs wrapped up the divisional tournament over the weekend, the ‘89 Bulldogs took first overall at the Western A Divisional tournament under coach Julio Delgado. Coby Grove notched a team-high 20 points in the championship win over Columbia Falls.

Feb. 22, 1979

Enrollment studies within the Whitefish School District showed a puzzling trend — as population within the district rose, enrollment at Whitefish schools dropped steadily. The enrollment figures considered the previous five years, and Whitefish schools were looking at about $75,000 less in funding due to lower student numbers.

Feb. 20, 1969

Winter Carnival was still in full swing in Whitefish. Among the week’s news was the crowning of Prince Frey, R.D. Giesy, and Princess Freya, Linda Harstad, the treasure hunt and the ice sculpting contest.
