Former Bulldog quarterback Mark Anderson will play on at the college level next year.

Anderson recently committed to Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, where he will play receiver on the Pirates’ football team. The Pirates are a Division III school and last year finished 6-4 overall.

Anderson said he had already planned on attending the school before athletics came into play, so football is just an added bonus.

“My mom went there, and I read about their career services and they were really good. So I was probably going to go there anyway, regardless of sports. I sent them my highlights and luckily they said they’d like to offer me a spot on the team, so it was really convenient,” he said.

Anderson says he’s planning on majoring in journalism with a minor in advertising. One thing he’s looking forward to is the school’s small size.

“It’s small. You’re not just student number whatever, there’s only 1,400 students. The faculty to student ratio is 11 to one, so I know I’m not going to be looked over by anyone and all the teachers are really going to care and want me to succeed,” he said.

The Bulldogs last year went 5-5 and made the playoffs.
