Alta Margaret May

Alta Margaret May, 76, of Whitefish, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on February 14, 2019.

Marge was born on Nov. 13, 1942 to Janice Grubb and Alto John Gimbel in Choteau Montana.

Marge graduated from Columbia Falls High School.

Marge was very involved in community events and participated in many clubs and organizations.

She was preceded in death by both her parents, two brothers — Joe Gimbel and Frank Gimbel — and grandson Jordan Carlson.

Marge is survived by her loving husband Bert May, children Patricia, Martin, Terry, Jozetta, Michael and Mary, siblings Don and Claudette, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A Mass will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. A celebration of life will be held on her favorite holiday, the Fourth of July at the May residence. Family and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Special Olympics Montana.

A wife, a mother, a grandma too, this is the legacy we have from you. You taught us love and how to fight, you gave us strength, you gave us might. A stronger person would be hard to find, and in your heart, you were always kind. You fought for us all in one way or another, not just as a wife not just as a mother. For all of us you gave your best, now the time has come for you to rest. So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep, your love in our hearts, we’ll eternally keep.
