Lady Dogs tripped up by Ronan, Corvallis
Eight minutes into last Tuesday’s game against Ronan and it looked like the Lady Dogs were ready for a rout.
Whitefish opened the game on a 15-3 run, but the Maidens came roaring back to tie the game by halftime at 21-apiece.
Ronan pushed ahead by five in the third quarter and held that lead in the fourth for the victory.
Payton Kastella led the team with 10 points in that game.
Then on Friday the Lady Dogs fell behind early to Corvallis but clawed their way back in to make it a game.
After trailing 14-7 after one quarter, Whitefish outscored the Blue Devils by four in the second to head to the locker room down just 18-15.
Despite having their most productive quarter in the fourth, the Lady Dogs were outscored 31-25 in the second half.
Corvallis took the win 49-40.
Marlee Bender led the Bulldogs with 12, and Jadi Walburn and Kaiah Moore each added seven.
The team will get two more shots at Northwest A opponents this week, however, as the regular season wraps up with a Tuesday showdown with Ronan after press time and a Thursday battle with Columbia Falls.
The Thursday game is at Columbia Falls and will begin at 7:30 p.m.
