ATP show next week combines opera and burlesque
Alpine Theatre Project is presenting the opera “OperaLesque” this month. The show is Feb. 14-16 at the ATP Garage, 6464 Highway 93 in Whitefish. “OperaLesque” will feature some of the greatest opera singers in the nation from the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera mixed with tantalizing burlesque. Patrons can enjoy chocolate fondue and cocktails at the ATP Garage while being treated to vocal and physical virtuosity including aerial acts all around them.
The production includes performances on Feb. 14 and 15 at 7:30 p.m. and a special exotic late-night show on Feb. 16 at 9 p.m. for adults only. Only 60 seats are available per performance. Tickets are $45 per person or $130 for a table for two which includes fondue and table service.
Patrons will be seated around a solo piano in the ATP Garage while the action will take place all around, and even above, them, creating an immersive experience.
Starring in “OperaLesque,” are Glenn Seven Allen, who recently starred in New York City Opera’s acclaimed production of “Brokeback Mountain” and starred in ATP and Glacier Symphony’s combined concert production of “Sweeney Todd;” Melanie Long, who recently starred in New York City Opera’s world tour of “Carmen,” and is a member of the acclaimed burlesque troupe, the Hot Box Girls; Sharin Apostolou, a frequent performer with New York City Opera, Utah Opera, Central City Opera, and Opera Delaware, and performed in “Yuletide Affair 9” at ATP; Jorrell Williams, who starred in “Intimate Apparel” at the Metropolitan Opera and was a featured soloist with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis; and Marcy Richardson, who is known as “the singing aerialist,” and has performed with New York City Opera, Opera Columbus, and the acclaimed burlesque variety troupe, Company XIV.
Chocolate fondue will also be available to patrons who purchase a table for two or four. OperaLesque is sponsored by the Montana Tap House, Harlow & Harlette, and Marshall and Kathryn Friedman.
