WTC holds auditions for 'The Roommate'
The Whitefish Theatre Co. is holding auditions for their first Black Curtain theatre production of the 2019-2020 season.
Auditions for “The Roommate” will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. The north door at the back of the O’Shaughnessy Center will open at 6:30 p.m. for those wanting to fill out an audition application early and review the audition selections.
Recently divorced and living in an old house in Iowa, Sharon needs to find a sensible roommate like herself — a woman in her 50s — to make ends meet. Robyn, a middle-aged woman from the Bronx who’s looking for a chance to start over, seems to fit the bill. But as Sharon begins to uncover Robyn’s secrets, her own deep-seated desire to completely transform her own life becomes unleashed. Called “an out and out laugh riot,” “The Roommate” is a dark comedy about a chance cohabitation that sets two lives spinning — and what happens when the wheels come off.
The cast is comprised of two women, ages 40 and older. No experience or preparation is necessary to audition. Pages from the script will be provided.
Erin Grayce is the director of this production. As a Black Curtain show, the actors will remain on book during performances and there will be minimal costumes and set. There will be approximately nine rehearsals and one technical rehearsal on Sept. 20. There are two performances over one weekend on Sept. 21 and 22.
