Hootenanny musical festival raises funds for trail

Come celebrate local trails and open lands with Whitefish Legacy Partners during their annual Whitefish Trail Hootenanny event on Friday, Aug. 23 in Depot Park in downtown Whitefish from 5–9 p.m.

Enjoy live music, kid’s activities, food trucks, local craft beer, and a huge raffle. All ages are welcome, and participants are encouraged to walk or ride their bikes to the event.

The annual music festival and family dance party features three live bands: Laney Lou and the Bird Dogs from Bozeman, Cascade Crescendo from Portland, and local favorite Rheannon. Kid’s activities include a bike obstacle course, climbing wall, jump stations, and art projects from Stumptown Art Studio. Food trucks and local craft beer will be available for purchase. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate, with kids 12 and under free. The fundraising event is made possible by Title Sponsor First Interstate Bank and event sponsors National Parks Realty, Edward Jones Financial Advisor Claudine Johnson, BNSF, Glacier Restaurant Group, and Toad & Co. Music is sponsored by Great Northern Bar & Grill and Casey’s Whitefish and local craft beer is provided by Great Northern Brewing Company. Whitefish Mountain Resort, Sportsman & Ski Haus, Great Northern Cycle & Ski, Glacier Cyclery and many Whitefish businesses have donated raffle prizes including a 2019-2020 season ski pass and a mountain bike.

The Whitefish Trail is the anchor project of Whitefish Legacy Partners, a nonprofit organization, and the result of collaborative partnerships providing public access and recreation while protecting clean water, thriving forests and prime wildlife habitat on open lands in the urban interface of Whitefish. The Whitefish Trail is currently 42 miles accessed by 12 trailheads just steps from town.
