Inside Flathead Med presents real-life medical procedures

| August 13, 2019 3:35 PM

North Valley Hospital is thrilled to present a new event, “Inside Flathead Med – Live from the Whitefish Performing Arts Center” to allow the public an inside look at complex medical procedures and cases that were treated with lifesaving solutions by local doctors. The hospital plans to make it an annual event.

The event features four “episodes,” or cases that required expert medical knowledge, specialty, and collaboration, presented by the physicians who worked with the patient.

Inside Flathead Med will feel like an engaging medical TED talk, presented by local doctors working at Flathead Valley hospitals, so you will hear about procedures from those that lead them. Medically complex and physically challenging cases will be presented with explanations of how they were approached and how they turned out. It will be an exciting night and a fascinating one-time peek inside the medical world.

This event came out of requests by community members to learn more about physicians and the specialty care available in the Flathead Valley. Physicians often present similar cases at board meetings and medical staff meetings to share the process and outcome and to discuss unique situations. The cases are so interesting that several board members suggested that physicians bring the presentations to the public to share stories widely, in an engaging venue. With the support of physicians and community partners, North Valley Hospital collaborated with Kalispell Regional Healthcare to create this engrossing program of medical stories as presented by the doctors themselves.

We invite you to Inside Flathead Med, presented by North Valley Hospital in collaboration with Kalispell Regional Healthcare, at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center on Thursday, Aug. 22 from 5-7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Don’t miss this showcase of the incredible lifesaving and complex procedures practiced right here in the Flathead Valley. North Valley Hospital Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jason Cohen will host the event.

Physicians presenting cases at Inside Flathead Med include:

- Dr. John Means, surgeon at North Valley Hospital and Kalispell Regional Healthcare

- Dr. Ashleigh Magill, emergency department medical director, North Valley Hospital

- Dr. Tim Joyce, orthopedic surgeon, Kalispell Regional Healthcare

- Dr. Fredrico Seifarth, pediatric Surgeon, Montana Children’s
