Twins split with Bandits to open season

The defending Northwest Regional Champion Glacier Twins opened the 2019 season on Sunday, splitting a pair of games with the Calgary Bandits.

The Twins won game one on a walk-off single by Chad Queen, 1-0.

Jack Schwaiger was the winning pitcher for the team, which used five pitchers in the game and held Calgary to two hits and no runs.

The Twins again used five pitchers in game two, but fell in a 9-7 loss.

Calgary scored eight of its nine runs in three innings.

The Twins had two three-run innings in the sixth and seventh but couldn’t finish the rally for the win.

Glacier will continue its nine-game home stand with a seven-inning battle against the Lakers Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Memorial Field.
