Student speaks on behalf of librarian

| April 16, 2019 2:57 PM

In this letter I will covey my opinion on why Ms. Craig should have a contract renewal at Whitefish High School and stay on as our librarian.

Ms. Craig has done numerous things for our school and the students that attend it. Besides being super understanding and kind to all who talk to her, she supports many different groups of people.

For example, she is the overseer of the Gay Straight Alliance club at our school. Their club message of acceptance and open-mindedness is very strong. I personally have seen a positive change in my own thoughts towards LGBTQ since the club was developed, and that is very awesome to see.

I am happy to be part of a different club that Ms. Craig organizes — Reader’s Club. Though we don’t have a specific mission to our club, it brings like-minded people together to read and enjoy very interesting literature. I feel very safe when around club mates and when in the library.

What Ms. Craig has brought to the school is very inspirational for me and many other students. I also signed up for a Youth Mental Health First Aid session. These classes did not exist at our school before Ms. Craig began working here. I personally have been able to help people using my training. I believe the training sessions are very important, and have been overlooked for a long time. I respect her very much, and wish to be more like her someday due to her open-mindedness and never ending support. I would be very upset at the loss of such an amazing person within the school.

Libby Jenkins is a sophomore at Whitefish High School.
