Whitefish chalets make list of world's greatest places
Snow Bear Chalets, ski-in and ski-out treehouses at Whitefish Mountain Resort, has been selected as one of TIME Magazine’s 2018 World’s Greatest Places.
The list highlights 100 destinations and was created by soliciting nominations across a variety of categories, according to TIME, to find “new and newly relevant destinations” worth experiencing now. The magazine evaluated each nomination resulting in a list that spans six continents and 48 countries.
Snow Bear Chalets, which opened in late 2017 in the village at the resort, offers the luxury accommodations in a storybook-inspired treehouse chalet.
Snow Bear is the dream of Gail Goodwin of Whitefish.
“I wanted to build a magical place that would bring out the inner child in our guests,” she said. “In all of our architectural and design decisions, from the sparkly Cambria Quartz counter tops to the soaring turret, from the cantilevered master bedroom to the ‘Disney bark’ on the trees, every decision had to meet the criteria of maintaining the whimsical, storybook feel. If Harry Potter and Hansel and Gretel got together and built a home, would they put this product in their house? If the answer was ‘Yes,’ then it made the cut, and if not, we kept looking for the right materials.”
Snow Bear Chalets is the only Montana property to be included as a Place to Stay on the TIME list.
Located adjacent to Chair 3, Snow Bear advertises the ability for skiers to be near the slopes while staying 25 feet off the ground in chalets that feature swooping roof beams and castle-esque turrets.
Built by Malmquist Construction, and financed by Three Rivers Bank Montana, Snow Bear is available as a Premier Partner on Homeaway.com.
