Currently there are three candidates running for two vacant spots on the Whitefish Lake Golf Club Board of Directors. Don Hanson and Dennis McConnell will complete their three-year terms at the end of this year. Absentee ballots will be available in the Golf Shop starting two weeks prior to the annual meeting and votes may also be cast during the annual meeting. Voting is limited to Tier One member over the age of 18.

Fall Can-Am Pro-Am Huge Success

A full field of players participated in the 2018 edition of the two-day fall Pro-Am this past weekend at WLGC. Former Whitefish Assistant Professional Tyler Martin and his team captured the two-day low scoring title. Each team had four amateurs and one professional and the scores consisted of the best gross score and net score for each hole. Local Golf Professional Christine Newton shot 70-74 for the two days and captured fourth place amongst the professionals.

Stay Focused

Sometimes the pace of play, especially in tournaments, can be distracting when it is really slow and you may find it hard to maintain focus. If you are having to wait on the group in front of you and there is a group waiting right behind you, you may feel a tendency to rush. You should remind yourself to just accept the pace of play and not worry about the group behind, as you too are waiting to play. While you are waiting make sure you have assessed the distance, made the club selection, visualize the shot, checked the wind and are ready to play your shot with a refreshed and focused mind. You will make these days more enjoyable if you stay focused on your game and not be irritated by the slowness of the round. Remember nearly all sports have down time where you have to be patient and prepared.

Frost Delays

This time of year we can expect to have the occasional frost delay in the mornings. If frost exists please remember to stay off the grass as walking on frozen turf can cause serious damage to the plant. This is especially true to the sensitive Bentgrass on the putting greens.
