Lady Bulldogs suffer conference loss to Loggers at home
The Lady Dogs put up a fight, but couldn’t bring down the Lady Loggers at home last week.
Libby defeated Whitefish 25-20, 25-21, 25-19 in a hard fought Northwest A matchup.
Head coach Addy Connelly said mental mistakes held her team back.
“We played some pretty decent volleyball,” she said. “We had a few unforced errors, it really came down to our mental game. We were kind of beat before we even started, but the girls went out and competed, came back from a 9-point deficit at one point and got up and had a lead, then kind of fell apart again. But I saw some good volleyball from these girls and our mental toughness is going in the right direction.”
Connelly said bringing game-like situations into practice is key to boosting the mental aspect of the game.
“We just try to recreate as much as we can in practice,” Connelly said. “Talk about how it’s OK to make mistake, and how we handle them is the important thing. We really try to focus on the positives and know that we can grow and we can get better.”
This week Whitefish hosts Ronan on Thursday for homecoming week. That game will start at 7:15 p.m. at Whitefish High School.
Ronan is 2-1 in Northwest A play.
“It’s going to be important that we just go out and play our game of volleyball. We’ve been working on some things in practice so we’re hoping we can go out and implement those,” Connelly said.
