Planetree Festival returns Sept. 12 to North Valley Hospital

| September 11, 2018 2:22 PM

North Valley Hospital will celebrate its Planetree Festival on Wednesday, Sept. 12 from 3-8 p.m.

The festival takes place every two years and is a chance for the community to come together to celebrate health, wellness, and the Planetree philosophy of patient centered care that makes North Valley Hospital a unique facility, well-known by the entire community, according to the hospital.

Join NVH staff, providers, local nonprofits, NVH clinics, and business partners for live music, food and drinks, and a health fair style celebration with something for everyone. The event is family friendly, featuring a kid’s zone with a bounce house and slide, free Sweet Peaks ice cream from 3-5 p.m., and a drawing contest by Whitefish Middle School health students.

The Planetree Festival will also feature live music by Merle Robinson, Diedre Corson and North Valley Music School students, followed by the Brent Jameson Duo from 5:30-7:30 p.m. There will be food and drink available and interactive displays and activities presented by community partners, nonprofits, and North Valley Hospital departments and employees.

New this year is the Planetree Healing Garden, a community garden built by the hospital and the NVH Foundation to provide a calming space for visitors, patients, and employees to enjoy, in addition to partnering with community organizations to promote healthy eating and wellness. The North Valley Hospital Foundation partnered with NVH employees to fund, create, and design the garden space that will provide gardening activities and produce for The Springs, local schools and clinics, NVH Diabetes Prevention Program participants, and the Valley Café at North Valley Hospital.

The Planetree Festival will include garden workshops coordinated by Farm Hands, representatives from the Center for Sustainability and Entrepreneurship of Whitefish School District, and Citizens for a Better Flathead focusing on soil conditioning, composting and planting trees and garlic.
