Planetree Festival returns to North Valley Hospital on Sept. 12

| September 5, 2018 9:02 AM

This year, the Planetree Festival is back at North Valley Hospital. It comes around every two years, and this year the festival is a little jazzier and a little bit bigger to celebrate the 16th Anniversary of the Planetree model with the community at our beautiful hospital facility.

Planetree Festival

On Wednesday, Sept. 12, the Planetree Festival will be from 3-8 p.m. in the north parking lot at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish.

The Planetree Festival celebrates North Valley Hospital’s unique Planetree philosophy, which focuses on patient-centered care and creates a calm atmosphere of healing throughout the hospital. At North Valley Hospital, you’ll see the Planetree philosophy embodied in the caring employees, the healing design, the well-known delicious and healthy food in the cafe, and the patient focused approach to healthcare from all providers and all departments.

Join us to celebrate our Planetree philosophy and our wonderful community that we partner with to provide the highest quality care.

Attractions and Activities

The Planetree Festival features a variety of fun activities, food, and entertainment for all ages. Take part in the health fair style booths, play a game, enjoy a snack, listen to music, and say hello to our community partners.

Here are a few highlights of the Planetree Festival:

Whitefish Middle School health class drawings on display

Booths by nonprofit partners like Nate Chute Foundation and Agency on Aging

Live music by Merle Robinson, Diedre Corson and North Valley Music School students, followed by the Brent Jameson Duo from 5:30-7:30 pm

Interactive fun at all department and nonprofit booths

Kids fun zone with a bounce house and slide

Free ice cream donated by Sweet Peaks from 3-5 p.m.

Food and drinks

Another exciting new addition to the Planetree Festival at North Valley Hospital is the introduction of the Planetree Healing Garden. A group of employees and the Foundation have worked to create a garden that will be a place to gather and relax, as well as to be a source of fresh produce for health related programs of the hospital and our community partners. Farm Hands — Nourish the Flathead and representatives from the Center for Sustainability and Entrepreneurship of Whitefish School District, along with Citizens for a Better Flathead will be on hand to conduct workshops on soil conditioning, composting, and planting trees and garlic for next season.

Community Connections

We’re excited to partner with health classes at Whitefish Middle School for a drawing contest featuring depictions of “What does healthy look like to you?” again this year. Swing by to see all the artwork displayed, find your favorite middle schooler’s drawing, and congratulate the winners.

Also this year, local senior living communities are making a special outing to the event. We’re excited to welcome residents from Immanuel Lutheran and The Springs, among other groups, to join in the fun at the Planetree Festival.

Who Should Go?

Planetree Festival is a family-friendly event for everyone. Kids, families, parents, seniors, professionals, people interested in health, wellness, and healthcare options, people who want a free scoop of ice cream and to see some great drawings, anyone wondering what Planetree is about, those who are interested in seeing our beautiful hospital … everyone is invited and we’d love to see you there!
