| May 29, 2018 12:49 PM

The Whitefish School District, the Whitefish Education Foundation, the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program, and Whitefish Community Library are partnering for free summer programs at the library.

Two Early Literacy Family Workshops will feature resources, strategies, and ideas to help foster the love of reading for children aged 5-8. Childcare and a meal are provided. The first one is Monday, June 4 and runs 5-6:30 p.m. The second session is Tuesday, July 10 from noon to 1 p.m. Register at the library or call 862-9914.

Every Tuesday starting June 19 until Aug. 21, the Whitefish Community Library will host “Lunch and a Story.” This program will begin at 10:45 a.m. with free lunch picked up at the Summer Food Service Program truck in the library parking lot. All children under the age of 18 are eligible to receive a lunch. Then children aged 5-8 will go into the Library at 11 a.m. for a focused program that provides a story time and literacy development activity.

The Library’s Summer Reading Challenge kicks off on June 15, when Clifford the Big Red Dog visits, compliments of Friends of Montana PBS. Other summer events during the challenge include activities by North Valley Music School and Stumptown Art Studio, culminating with EAT A BOOK!, an Edible Book Contest on Aug. 9.
