Season Opener Golf Tournament

The 2018 Season Opener Tournament is set for Saturday, May 5 with starting times to be announced. The format will once again be a two-person net best ball event with handicaps required to participate. Grab a partner and register in the Golf Shop either in person or by calling 862-5960. The entry fee will include a barbecue after the round is completed.

North and South Open

Both courses are open for the season and in remarkable condition having just emerged from one of the epic winters in years. While carts are allowed off the paths, it is always the policy to follow the 90-degree rule out to your ball and back to the paths. There are a few areas that are slightly wet and should be avoided with your cart to ensure they recover fully. Remember to fix your ball marks on the green and fill those divots in the fairways and tees.

New Forward Tee on 14 South

The new silver, or forward tee on Hole 14 of the South is being completed and gives those playing that shot a much better angle and visibility to the landing area. The silver tees did replace the former red tees and are available to all players wishing to play them. Play the tees that work for you and allow you the chance to get the most enjoyment from your round. Playing it forward is a big push from the USGA and it is increasing fun in the game as well as pace of play.

Take One Side Out of Play

If there is trouble such as water, deep rough or out of bounds along one side of the hole, take that side out of play. One way to accomplish this is to tee up on the same side of the tee as the trouble so you are hitting toward the opposite side of the fairway or green. The other way is to tee it up on the same side as the trouble and either hook or fade the ball away from the bad areas. Practice hitting hooks and fades or have a Golf Professional teach you these shots so you have more options in your bag.
