WTC and Groovetrail to throw 'Great Gatsby' party
The Whitefish Theatre Company and Groovetrail are teaming up to host a night of fun and live music at their joint Great Gatsby Gala on April 6 at 7:30 p.m. This fantastic night of jazz, food, libation and subtle debauchery will take place at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish and benefits both non-profit art organizations.
Celebrating the upcoming WTC production of “The Great Gatsby” in April and music performances by Groovetrail artists around the Flathead Valley, this festive night will offer Great Gatsby-themed appetizers, a champagne bar, poker parlor and a speakeasy. Music will be provided by the six-piece Jeremy Quick Jazz Ensemble on the main dance floor and by pianist Merle Robinson in the backroom speakeasy. Costumes are not required but roaring 1920s attire is encouraged.
The Whitefish Theatre Company is in its 39th year as a non-profit, community-based performing arts organization. The mission of WTC is to initiate, develop and nurture the diverse passions of the community through the production and presentation of outstanding performing arts programs and projects. Groovetrail brings music to those who need it most, enhancing communities within the Flathead Valley with live performance and music education. Groovetrail arranges for local musicians to appear at nursing homes, care facilities and rehab centers, and sends teaching artists into schools for jazz and general music outreach. Groovetrail’s summer jazz camp and youth jazz ensembles enrich students valley-wide with a focus on music by America’s greatest composers and improvisers.
