Margaret (Peggy) Louise Moir

Margaret (Peggy) Louise Clark was born April 8, 1933 in Missoula, Montana. She passed away Wednesday, Feb. 22 at her home in Billings, Montana. Peggy grew up in the small town of Arlee just north of Missoula where she was raised by her parents Daniel and Ina Clark as well as her grandparents Patrick and Olive Thomas.

She attended Arlee schools until her graduation in 1951. She left Arlee in the fall of 1951 to attend Western Montana College in Dillon. It was there she met her true love William (Bill) E. Moir. The following spring Peg and Bill eloped to Idaho Falls and started a life together. It wasn’t long before they started a family and by 1958 they had four boys. For the next few years they lived throughout the state, first in Dillon, then Power, then White Sulphur Springs before making Whitefish their home.

The family moved around Whitefish before settling in on O’Brien Avenue just north of the footbridge in 1961. While Bill was busy teaching, Peggy was a stay-at-home mom as the boys made their way through school. In 1974 Peggy and Bill bought Martin’s Cleaners with their good friends Bob and Frankie Slocum, where Peggy spent the next 13 years working in the dry cleaners. Peggy had a few passions in her life. She liked to visit with others, she spent many hours with her bridge club, she enjoyed visiting the Victorian Casino, but more than anything she loved her family.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, her husband Bill, her son Pat, and grandson Alex. She is survived by sons, Dan (Dallas, Texas), Mike (Canby, Oregon), and Tim (Mary) of Cody, Wyoming. She was very proud of her five grandsons and three great-granddaughters.

Cremation has taken place and services for Margaret and William will be held this summer in Whitefish, Montana.
