Fern seeking re-election; no candidates in SD3

Whitefish Democrat Dave Fern has filed for re-election to House District 5, which includes the city of Whitefish and rural ares surrounding the city.

Fern was first elected to serve in the state House in 2017. No other candidates have filed for the job.

In House District 6, Whitefish Democrat Mary Custer has filed to run against Incumbent Republican Carl Glimm of Kila.

The deadline to file is March 12.

In the race for county commissioner, incumbent Republican Gary Krueger is running against challengers Gerald “Jay” Scott, Randy Brodehl and Ronalee Skees.

Democrat Tom Clark has also filed in the race.

Only Republicans have filed in the other county races. Debbie Pierson is running for re-election as clerk and recorder. Travis Ahner is running for county attorney to replace incumbent Ed Corrigan.

Jordan White, Brian Heino, Calvin Beringer and Keith Stahlberg are running for Sheriff to replace Chuck Curry, who leaving at the end of his term. Adele Krantz is running for another term as county treasurer and Jack Eggensperger is running for another term as county superintendent of schools.

The primary election is June 5.
