The Glacier Twins showed off at their own Ed Gallo Tournament with an 18-2 blowout over the Olympia Raptors on Sunday.

The Twins took third overall in the tournament, which was held from Thursday through Sunday at Memorial Field in Whitefish.

Against the Raptors, Glacier opened the game with a dozen runs in the first inning alone and racked up the remaining six runs in the second and third frame.

The Twins as a team totaled 17 hits, with Ryan Veneman and Terek Bistodeau both going 3 for 4 at the plate.

Coby Clark-Dickenson struck out four in two innings on the mound, and Donnie Sims also racked up four Ks in three innings.

The Twins A then went on to beat the Twins B 7-2 in the third/fourth place matchup later in the day.

Head coach Scott Murray said he feels good about how his team looked at the tournament.

“I thought at times we played real well,” he said. “Pitching is gradually getting more consistent. Still too many errors in the infield, but we’re moving in the right direction.”

However, Murray noted the trouble his club had with the Calgary Redbirds earlier in the tournament.

Calgary took down the Twins 11-5 in that game.

Murray credited strong pitching from the Redbirds in the loss.

“Their pitcher kept us off ball. He had a good curveball and we struggled with him,” he said.

The tournament was also a good chance for the team to finally break a .500 winning percentage and get ahead on their overall season record.

The team is 11-10 overall, with a 5-3 league record.

The Twins this week hosted Libby for a Tuesday doubleheader before heading to Helena this weekend for the Keith Sell Tournament.
