Laura Jean Wyman

Laura Jean Wyman passed away on June 16 in her home in Whitefish after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 58.

Laura’s faith in Jesus was her bedrock and shared it with others throughout her life. She loved skiing, hiking, playing piano, writing music, swimming, biking, riding horses, dogs and the outdoors. She was fiercely loyal, had a gentle spirit and loved her family and friends unconditionally. She spent her life on investing and helping other people. She and her husband took in many young adults and children in need into their home throughout the years.

Laura was born in Denver, Colorado, to Stan and Ginny Berry on May 24, 1960. She attended Longmont High School class of 1978 and was active on the swim team throughout her childhood and through high school. She graduated from University of Colorado, Boulder with a degree in Physical Therapy. After working for a couple years in Denver, she moved to Whitefish, to take a job.

She married Larry Wyman in 1986 and became mother to Alisha, Amanda, Tesla and Terry.

Laura was known for her incredible skill in helping to heal the injured through physical therapy. She worked as a physical therapist at several clinics and hospitals in the Flathead Valley over her career, including Professional Therapy Associates, Kalispell Regional Medical Center, the Brendan House, and others.

She loved visiting Glacier National Park and hiking or biking in the summers or cross country skiing in the winter. She was also an avid downhill skier and enjoyed frequenting Big Mountain. She was a fan of Christian singer David Crowder and went to a number of his concerts.

Laura spent much time with her children and her grandchildren, taking them ice skating, to the pool and teaching them to ski, sew and crochet. Her granddaughter Aryan Ward said about her grandmother, “She encouraged me to do things I didn’t think I could do.”

Laura was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009 and successfully went into remission after treatment. However, the cancer returned in March of 2015 and had spread. She bravely faced the illness with grace and an eternal perspective throughout the two and a half years she suffered from it.

Laura is survived by her husband, Larry Wyman; children Alisha Beck, Amanda Seyfert, Tesla Wyman and Terry Wyman; parents Stan and Ginny Berry; brother David Berry; grandchildren Amber Ward, Aryan Ward, Amilya Goggles, Acacia Seyfert, Aidan Wyman, Samara Seyfert, Gregory Threefingers, Michael Troglin and one on the way.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on June 30 at Calvary Chapel church in Whitefish.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a foundation being established in Laura’s memory for practical needs of foster or orphaned children in the Flathead Valley. To give, go to www.gofundme.com/laurawyman.
