Celebrating another successful Whitefish Woody Weekend

Thank You, Whitefish, for helping to make Whitefish Woody Weekend VII a huge success. It was a great show with 42 beautiful classic boats from all over the Pacific Northwest, Canada and California, 21 of which were new to Whitefish Woody Weekend. These boats represented 17 different manufacturers and seven different chapters of the Antique and Classic Boat Society. Nineteen of the 42 participants came to the show from outside the Flathead Valley.

On behalf of the all of the boat Captains, thank you to the over 700 dock-walkers who braved the storm and came out and supported the event. It means a lot to the boat owners to see the tremendous turnout in spite of the rainy weather.

Nearly 500 people cast a vote for the “People’s Choice Award” on Saturday. It was a very tight race with all boats receiving votes. People’s Choice was awarded to “Forget Me Not,”a 2014 Bartender owned by Neal and Jean Ganser of Bozeman. “Forget Me Not” was built by the owner’s son at the Northwest School of Wood Boat Building. The Captain’s Choice Award, voted on by the boat owners, went to “Glacier Chaser,” a 1951 Lyman Runabout, owned by Deb and Tim Salt of Whitefish. The Commodore’s Award was given to Nevin and Elizabeth Bryant of Coolin, Idaho with their 1932 Gar Wood “Mollie.”

We would also like to thank those who volunteered their time and docks for card stops on the poker run. It is great to see all the smiling faces so early on a Sunday morning. The poker run best hand was held by Neal and Jean Ganser of Bozeman.

Finally, we would like to thank The Lodge at Whitefish Lake and their wonderful staff for being great hosts of the event. The Lodge treated the boat owners to that great Whitefish hospitality and once again demonstrated their commitment to community events.
