Summer art camps offer creativity at Stumptown Art Studio

The summer art camp season at Stumptown Art Studio kicks off this month.

Details on all of the summer offerings at the nonprofit community art center can be seen on the website at www.stumptownartstudio.org by stopping by 145 Central Avenue in Whitefish or by calling 406-862-5929.

Classes include:

- June 18-22: Guest artist/teacher Joshua Espinosa will lead ages 12-15 in sketching self portraits. Students will experiment and practice in a fun environment with inspiration, sketching activities and reflection using different mediums such as pencils, colored pencils, pens and pastels while learning two methods of self-portraiture. Goals of the camp are “to relax, take time and have fun.”

The rest of the summer is filled with a huge variety of four- and five-day camps, each for different age groups. They include:

- June 25-29: Clay Totem Bird Baths, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 1:30-3:30 p.m. for ages 9 and up.

- July 9-13: Fiesta, 10:30 a.m. -noon for ages 4-6 or 1:30-3 p.m. for ages 5-7.

- July 16-19: Wild at Art, 10:30 a.m.-noon for ages 4-6 or 1:30-3 p.m. for ages 7-10.

- July 23-27: Imaginarium, 10:30 a.m.-noon or 1:30-3 p.m. for ages 6-9.

- July 23-26: Pottery Garden Sculptures, 10:30 a.m.-noon or 1:30-3 p.m. for ages 7 and up.

- July 30-Aug. 3: Fairytastic & Mythical Creatures, 10:30 a.m.-noon or 1:30-3 p.m. for ages 8 and up.

- Aug. 13-17: Color My World, 10:30 a.m.-noon for ages 3-6.

Two times this summer brings Canvas & Cookies to a Friday evening for ages 7-12. These fun adventures of art-making and dessert from 6:30-8:30 p.m. will be on June 22 for Parrots in Paradise and July 20 for Design Your Own Emoji.

There is also three themed, Friday night pottery painting parties from 6:30-8:30 p.m. with snacks and a decorated art studio. A kids’ night out is on June 15 with the theme “Under the Sea,” on July 13 is a family night out for a “Luau Party” and the grand finale of summer is on Aug. 17 for kids, with “Harry Potter.”
