Whitefish joins Global Wellness Day
Whitefish will join more than 4,000 locations in 100 countries to celebrate Global Wellness Day on Saturday, June 9.
The event, put on by Blu Spas and hosted by The Wave, will feature a full day of exercises and wellness activities.
The day will start with a mile Fun Run/Walk for diabetes awareness organized by North Valley Hospital. More events to follow include: open swim time for children and families, arts and crafts with a wellness theme, group exercise (yoga, Zumba and cycling), Mommy and Me Classes and even a safety check for life jackets.
Professional Therapy Associates will be doing spinal health assessment for children and/or injury screening and the Lions Club of Whitefish will be doing the Plus Optix Vision Screening. Fully embracing this year’s theme of children’s health, The Wave has also included the GWD Kids Project five-minute morning wellness circles in their own All Aboard Preschool.
Global Wellness Day recommends following a seven-point manifesto for wellness, which includes walking for an hour, drinking more water, not using plastic bottles, eating healthy food, doing a good deed, having a family dinner with loved ones, and getting to bed by 10 p.m.
Blu Spas is a full-service design firm that offers consultancy, advisory and operating solutions for the spa, fitness and wellness industry for more than 30 years.
Global Wellness Day is in its seventh year as an event and its third year of worldwide participation. Turkish founder and cancer survivor Belgin Aksoy Berkin started the event with the idea that wellness is not a luxury but the inherent right of every individual, and her mantra of “one day can change your whole life” hopes to inspire others to put wellness first for one day.
