Theater director expresses thanks

| June 5, 2018 2:37 PM

My name is Jesse DeVine and it has been my privilege to be the Artistic Director of Whitefish Theatre Company for the past eight years. Recently I was informed that the current Board of Directors would not be renewing my contract.

Though I am deeply saddened by their decision it is extremely important to me that I reach out and express my gratitude to all those that have made my time at WTC the most joyful and gratifying period of my life. During the 10 years that I have been involved in productions at WTC I have been blessed to have worked with the most dedicated, talented and kind cast of characters in my 30 years in theatre. Having worked at universities, community colleges, professional regional theaters, high schools, and other community driven theaters — I know that the community that supports Whitefish Theatre Company is special. None of Whitefish Theatre Company’s amazing productions would be possible without countless sacrifices and support from so many different sources; actors, volunteers, staff, donors, board members, sponsors and, not least importantly, ticket buyers. They all play a part and should continue to be recognized for their contribution. It truly takes a village to raise a show!

This year marks the 40th anniversary of WTC. That’s four decades of incredible community theatre! Decades of consistent quality theatre don’t happen by chance. Though I have only been around for one of those decades, I know that kind of consistent success is uncommon and takes so very much work by so very many people. Though the Flathead will always be my home, I may not have the opportunity to personally thank each and every one of you that have given so much. But this is my humble attempt, so to all of you I say... bravo, kudos and cheers. I hope you enjoy the 2018-2019 season of programming, as much as I enjoyed every part of putting it together. Enjoy the 40th celebrations, I will miss you all more than words could ever convey!
