Officer suggests locking car to deter theft

Thursday, July 19

10:08 a.m. Somebody cut the caller’s hedges “haphazardly.”

11:37 a.m. A caller on Spokane Avenue noticed a man suspiciously looking into a parked vehicle. When the caller came out to investigate, the man backed into some trees and disappeared.

11:49 a.m. A caller on Central Avenue claimed to have over 30 hidden cameras placed in his home by his neighbors. Officers could not find any cameras.

12:49 p.m. A man was hit by a vehicle as he walked across a crosswalk on 13th Street.

Friday, July 20

6:32 p.m. A group of “train kids” had set up camp near the railroad.

7:45 p.m. A seven-year-old boy was sitting outside of a bar because his father wouldn’t let him inside.

Saturday, July 21

3 a.m. A man passed out next to a garbage can on Central Avenue.

7:46 a.m. A number of items, including two kayaks and “possibly an ax,” were taken when a vehicle was stolen from Pine Avenue.

5:21 p.m. A caller wanted to let officers know about a deer on First Street so they could “relocate it somewhere safer.” The caller was not from Whitefish.

11:01 p.m. Two “scraggly looking” transients were threatening people on Baker Avenue.

Sunday, July 22

8:07 a.m. A caller wanted advice on how best to respond to transients when confronted.

2:12 p.m. Two men were cursing at people who weren’t giving them money on First Street.

3:29 p.m. A dog named “Whiskey” was stolen from a vehicle at a Highway 93 parking lot.

5:47 p.m. A man was sleeping on a downtown bench and had gotten “severely sunburned.”

9:53 p.m. Two homeless women were fighting outside the train depot.

Monday, July 23

10:29 a.m. A black dog with a blue bandanna chased a man into a bathroom.

10:41 a.m. Someone broke down the caller’s front door on Railway Street.

Tuesday, July 24

1:16 a.m. Someone sprayed bear spray at a Whitefish hotel.

4:04 a.m. A caller woke up to find a man trying to steal items from their rental cabin.

Wednesday, July 25

8:30 a.m. Someone rummaged through the caller’s vehicle on State Park Road, the third time it had happened. The caller was advised to start locking his vehicle.

11:59 a.m. Someone broke into a caller’s home and rummaged through her things.
