Huckleberry bake-off

The bushes are bursting with fresh mountain huckleberries and bakers looking to show of their culinary creations have the chance this month to compete in the ninth annual Huckleberry Days Dessert Bake Off.

The bake-off is part of the annual Huckleberry Days Arts Festival in Depot Park Aug. 10-12.

The bake-off is held during the morning of Aug. 11 in Depot Park. There are two divisions — adult and youth 14 years and younger.

Entries are judged on appearance, texture, taste and originality. All entries must contain huckleberries and be homemade.

Cash prizes for the top three in each division will be awarded. First place is awarded $100.
