The Twins are heating up as the district tournament approaches, closing out last week on a five-game win streak.

Glacier hasn’t played a competitive game since the Sapa-Johnsrud tournament on July 6, taking down Butte AA, Libby A and Cranbrook A with a combined score of 65-9 in those five games.

Last Wednesday the Twins traveled to Libby for a doubleheader against the Loggers, winning 13-3 and 12-1.

The Twins jumped out to an early lead in game one, scoring seven runs in the second inning alone. Zach Veneman got the win on the mound with four strikeouts in four innings and giving up two runs and two hits.

A seven-run fourth inning put the Twins up for good in game two. Jack Schwaiger, Ryan Veneman and Caleb Meehan each accounted for a pair of runs. Matt Morrison pitched four innings and fanned seven hitters.

Glacier kept it going against Cranbrook on Saturday, winning both doubleheaders in five innings by scores of 12-2 and 10-2.

The Twins racked up 11 hits in game one, with five runs in the first and fifth innings to give them a dominant lead.

Nathan Hader notched seven strikeouts to just four hits on the mound.

Tom Hellwig homered in the third for Glacier.

The bats stayed hot in game two.

Nine different Twins accounted for 10 hits in the tail end of the doubleheader.

Terek Bistodeau went 2 for 2 with a pair of RBIs, and struck out seven in the first four innings on the mound.

Glacier scored in every inning of the game.

This week the Twins begin the final push toward the District Tournament at the end of the month in Hamilton.

They hosted the Missoula Mavericks for a doubleheader on Tuesday after press time.

On Thursday they host the Bitterroot Red Sox for another doubleheader starting at 1 p.m., leaving a just pair of games against the Kalispell Lakers A before starting postseason play.
