David A. Reitan passed June 20, 2018 at age 83. His beloved dog, Bonnie, followed her daddy three days later.

David was born June 8, 1935. Bonnie was born in November 2008 and passed away on June 24, 2018.

David was preceded in death by his father, Ted, and mother, Lydia (Olhem). For most of his early life, he farmed the family farm south of Moorhead, Minnesota. As a young man, he enjoyed racing modified stockcars and playing fast pitch softball, earning North Dakota Amateur Hall of Fame as catcher in 1979. Dave had many passions including professional ski instructor and examiner (37 years), piloting his Super Cub airplane, hunting, and fishing. He was proud of 12 years served in North Dakota Air National Guard.

Later, he lived in Whitefish, Montana, where he ran his own excavating business. He also, taught skiing and raced inboard hydro racing boats.

In 2002, Dave married Nancy Christensen. The next year, they moved to Green Valley, Arizona, to enjoy retirement. They found their church home at Desert Hills Lutheran Church. He loved his church serving as usher captain and was instrumental in starting the Scandinavian Group.

Dave leaves behind his wife, Nancy of 16 years; three siblings, Ken (Cleo) Reitan, Breckenridge Minnesota, Adella (Rodger Jegtvig), Moorhead, Minnesota, Connie (Jack Karl), Walhalla, North Dakota; four children: Nancy Body, Tim (LuAnn) Reitan, Jim Reitan and Kathy (Tom Anderson); eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Dave was a very special friend to all he met. He was very proud of his 100 percent Norwegian heritage. He will be remembered for his smile and infectious sense of humor which he bestowed on everyone he met.

Dave will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace my dear one.
