The Event

The 2018 Event at Rebecca Farm, one of the largest equestrian triathlons in the United States, is set for July 18-22. Spectators can take in the eventing, dressage and cross country events throughout the five days. There is also vendors from all over the Northwest and food concessionaires on site. For a second consecutive year, the event will also host the Youth Championships, which features riders ages 14 to 21 from all corners of North America. The event will once again feature an expanded Kid Zone and “Pony Up” Experience, where kids can take free Horsemanship 101 classes and learn all about The Event’s four-legged friends. Admission is free, but a suggested parking donation supports Halt Cancer at X. The Event is at Rebecca Farm at 1010 West Spring Creek Road in Kalispell. Ski Heritage museum opens after renovation

The Ski Heritage Center Museum of Skiing has been developed by the Flathead Valley Ski Education Foundation in the historic Saddle Club cabin in front of the Stumptown Ice Den on Wisconsin Avenue.

After more than two years of renovations and remodeling, the facility features: a photographic exhibit showing the history skiing on Big Mountain, a local Skiing Hall of Fame and a mock-up of the interior of the original Hellroaring Ski Cabin circa 1941.

Also included in the museum is an original movie footage of skiing on the mountain dating back to the 1940’s and a selection of books and articles about early-day skiing in the region and around the country.

While work is still progressing on several building improvements and outdoor exhibits, the main exhibit room stands ready for visitors.

Summer hours through Labor Day Weekend are noon to 5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.

Admission is free, however donations are accepted and appreciated.

The museum is also reaching out to the community for old chairlift chairs (especially original Chair One chairs); old wood skis, leather boots and bamboo poles; and volunteers to cover additional shifts as we add exhibits and extend hours.

The Springs at Whitefish is hosting a summer concert series. Folks are invited to bring a lawn chair, blanket and cooler and enjoy a little live music on the lawn outside The Springs, at 1001 River Lakes Parkway in Whitefish.
