Cart Path Use in Hot Weather

We often do not think about how the extreme hot weather affects the turf on the golf course, but it can be very stressful just as it can be for us players. During periods of excessive heat it is especially important to follow the 90 degree rule for carts just as we do in the wet season. Traffic patterns can cause lasting damage that takes weeks to rehab after severe stress.

USGA Agronomist Site Visit July 23

The Whitefish Lake Golf Club will be hosting their annual visit by the regional USGA Agronomist Larry Gilhuly on July 23 starting at 10 a.m. The visits afford the staff another set of eyes to view the course and examine the conditions followed by a report of recommendations to continue to improve the facility. This year we will be looking at the greens and tees as usual, but will also ask Larry to look at potential future expansion the South Course Putting green and improvements to the short game practice area.

Just wanted to remind everyone that the annual fun filled Ladies Invitational will be hosted by the WLGC Ladies Association on Monday, July 23. Jeanette Chaney, is the chair of the event and does a fantastic job of organizing what is probably the most successful Invitational in the region. Thanks Jeanette.
