The Whitefish girls basketball team held on against Stevensville heading into the final frame but couldn’t finish Thursday.

The Lady Dogs fell to the Yellowjackets 51-42.

Stevi led 34-31 going into the final quarter, where they outscored Whitefish 17-11 to secure the win.

Ashton Ramsey led Whitefish with nine points, while Annisa Brown added eight.

Whitefish got back at it Monday evening, however, notching a 57-40 win against Frenchtown in a make-up game.

Four Lady Dogs scored in double figures, with Marlee Bender, Kyiah Moore and Ramsey scoring 11 while Claire Carloss added 10.

Head coach Ben Johnson said the game was a culmination of everything his team has been working on.

“We’re doing some good things, we have been all year, but trying to play those full four quarters has been the goal. Last night we kicked that off,” he said. “It’s what we’ve been waiting for all year.”

The Lady Dogs hosted Ronan Tuesday after presstime. Later in the week they’ll be traveling for road games against Browning on Thursday and Corvallis on Friday.

The stretch of four games in five days this week will be tough, but it’s a good test for the team if they can come out healthy, Johnson said.

“I’m trying to use all the girls I have, rotate them through and keep them healthy,” he said.
