Despite going into halftime with the lead, the Bulldogs couldn’t hold off Polson Saturday night, falling 58-51 in a battle with the Northwest A foe.

The Pirates came alive in the third, outscoring Whitefish 16-8 to take and hold the lead.

Whitefish’s previous scoring woes dissipated, with three scorers in double digits.

Ryan Kemm led the team with 15 points, while Lee Walburn scored 12 and Dillon Botner 10.

Connor Lanier led the Pirates with 16 points.

Things weren’t any easier for Whitefish on Friday against Libby.

Despite 25 points from Walburn — the only Whitefish player to score more than six points — the Dogs were nipped by Libby’s Ryggs Johnston, who scored a game-high 30 points.

On its home court, Libby jumped out to a 22-8 lead in the opening quarter, which they held for the remainder of the game.

Kemm added six for the Dogs as well.

It’s been a rough go for the Bulldogs (1-11, 0-7) this season.

They’ll have a chance to notch a win Thursday against a struggling Stevensville team (1-11, 1-5), however.

On Tuesday they’ll also take on conference opponent Ronan, who is sitting in the middle of the conference with a 6-7 record and 3-4 in league play.
