Loretta Drescher Berrett

| February 13, 2018 12:43 PM

Loretta Drescher Berrett, 87, of Whitefish, passed away Jan. 3, 2018 at the Whitefish Center in Whitefish. Loretta was born Sept. 13, 1930 in Anaconda, Montana, to Carl and Helen Drescher. Loretta was one of five children, two brothers, John and Carl, and two sisters, Coleen and Betty. Loretta was married to her late husband, Paul Berrett, for 66 years.

Loretta is survived by her two children, John Berrett and Darnell Joy, son-in-law Tom Joy, grandchildren Garrett Berrett, Emily Joy, Amanda Zohrer and husband Carl Zohrer, and great-grandchildren Sofia and Carl.

Loretta and her family moved to Whitefish in 1967 where she became an active member in Eastern Star and enjoyed volunteering her time with Demolay and Rainbow. Setting up the game room during the Whitefish Winter Carnival for all to play was a family favorite. Loretta was a caring mother and grandmother and an amazing housewife, always ready with a feast for dinner and, of course, a delicious home-baked dessert! She loved the company of her grandchildren, good friends, and neighbors and was eager to join in a board game, backyard tournament of badminton, or a family fishing trip to Beaver Lake. Loretta loved to laugh and was never shy to share her smile and her heart with those around her.

Loretta, along with all loved-ones we have lost, walk beside us every day. They may be unseen and unheard, but they will always be near. We love you and miss you Grandma!
