Talent showcased during Glacier Skate show

Glacier Skate Academy is holding its Winter Wonderland ice show on Dec. 22-23 at Stumptown Ice Den in Whitefish.

The show features world-class, national, regional, and local academy skaters, including the Learn to Skate students, who perform for the first time but may already have big dreams to become future champions. Santa, played by youth hockey director Ryan Ulvin, will even make a guest appearance on the ice with his hockey elves.

Some international talent with join the show — Craig “Backflip” Finney from Royal Caribean International and the 2019 National Showcase Champion from Missoula Justin Hergett will both perform.

Sean Wirtz, Glacier Skate Academy’s skate director is the co-show director and co-choreographer.

“We’ve tried to create a joyful holiday show for the entire family, full of traditional Christmas music,” says Kristin Cowan, who is the show co-director and co-choreographer and a Glacier Skate Academy coach.

They recently relocated to Whitefish after traveling all over the world skating as a pairs team for Disney on Ice and other professional tours. Wirtz and Cowan will be performing in Winter Wonderland as well.

Show times are Saturday, Dec. 22 at 4 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 23 at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. General admission ticket prices are $12 for ages 13 and over, $8 for ages 6-12, and free for children age 5 and under. On-ice reserved seating is $15 and $20 for all ages. Tickets are available at glacierskateacademy.org or at the door one hour before show time. For more information, call the box office at 890-0155.
