Speech team takes silver

The Whitefish speech and debate team had one of their strongest performances of the season at Frenchtown last weekend.

The team finished second in sweepstakes points behind Columbia Falls, but had three champions and a number of other players in the tournament.

Naya Brigette took first overall in dramatic interpretation, Libby Goldhirsch took first in original oratory and Elizabeth Campbell earned first in informative speaking in the tournament.

Aidan Reid took second in original oratory, Regan Tintzman and Bethany Barnes took second and fourth in informative speaking and Danika Tintzman and Grace Benkelman took second in humorous interpretation and memorized public address, respectively.

Abigail Bowden and Grayson Butler also took fourth and fifth in extemporaneous speaking.

The team will continue their season on Jan. 4-5 at Corvallis.
