Swimmers take fifth in season opener

Whitefish finished fifth overall in the Kalispell Invitational swim meet, starting the season off on a high note.
Missoula Hellgate, Missoula Sentinel and Great Falls rounded out the top three finishers.
The boys team was led by Preston Ring, who snagged firsts in the 200 yard freestyle (1:46.86) and the 100 freestyle (48.70).
Logan Botner also took third in the 100 butterfly (1:01.30) and the 500 freestlye (5:33.22), while Kelvin Dicks finished ninth in the 100 breaststroke (1:16.13).
The boys 200 freestyle relay team took fourth overall (1:44.96).
It was a big day for Ada Qunell on the girls side.
Qunell finished first in the 100 butterfly (1:02.76) and second in the 200 intermediate (2:21.19).
Annie Sullivan got her season started with a fourth place finish in the 500 freestyle (5:46.15).
The girls 200 freestyle relay also took fourth.
This weekend the team will compete at the Havre Invitational. That will start at noon on Saturday.
