Speech gets bronze in Stevi

The Whitefish speech and debate team finished third overall at the Stevensville Tournament on Saturday.

Columbia Falls finished first in sweepstakes points, with the host team coming in second.

Elizabeth Campbell led the way for the team with a first place finish in informative speaking.

Danika Tintzman and Logan Mercer took second and third respectively in humorous interpretation, and Tintzman also took fifth in impromptu and sixth in informative.

Abigail Bowden took fifth in extemporaneous and Bethany Barnes fifth in informative.

Lilly Butts took seventh in Lincoln-Douglas debate.

Head coach Sara Mueller said she’s proud of the group effort on the speech side of things, as well as growth in debate.

The team will head to Bozeman this Friday and Saturday to take on the reigning Class AA champs.
