Back to School Bash chance to learn about activities

| August 28, 2018 1:19 PM

The Whitefish Education Foundation is hosting a Back to School Bash next month.

The community-wide event is designed to give families the opportunity to learn about extra-curricular activities, reconnect with friends and meet members of local nonprofits who are focused on education. The event is Thursday, Sept. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Smith Soccer Fields near North Valley Hospital.

A similar event was a staple of the fall in Whitefish, but was discontinued in 2012.

Now, the Back to School Bash is being sponsored and organized by volunteers from the education foundation’s Family Involvement Team (F.I.T), formerly known as the Whitefish PTA.

Organizers say there’s something for everyone at the Bash, as families will have the opportunity to obtain information and sign up for various activities.

In addition to many other organizations and nonprofits, the following groups are participating: F.I.T., North Valley Music School, Stumptown Ice Den’s Figure Skating Club, Alpine Theatre Project, Flathead Valley Ski Education Foundation, The Wave preschool, Project Whitefish Kids, Whitefish Wrestling Club, various scouting clubs, Glacier Nordic Club, CASA, Glacier Children’s Museum, Hockey Club, Nate Chute Foundation, Sawbuck DoJo, Stumptown Art Studio, Whitefish High School Drama Club, Tamarack Grief Resource Center, Whitefish Study Center, Flathead Rapids and Whitefish Legacy Partners.

Kids will also have the chance to dunk their favorite teacher or coach at the dunk tank and enjoy jumping in a bounce house.

Last year, the Whitefish PTA partnered with the Education Foundation to form a new group that supports Whitefish Schools through programs like Teacher Wish Lists, Arts in April, Teacher Appreciation Week, Parent Education Series, Early Literacy Workshops and Writing Coaches.

The Whitefish Education Foundation is a proud participant in the Great Fish Community Challenge and encourages community members to include WEF when donating.
