Member/Guest Tournament

The 2018 Member/Guest Tournament will be held this weekend, Aug. 25-26 with the two-person teams competing on both courses. Tee times will be available for non-tournament players on both days. The member/guest is a premier event with guests returning year-after-year to enjoy the two fabulous courses at Whitefish Lake Golf Club. Senior players with a handicap and age equaling 80 or more have the option to play the “gold” tees with a handicap adjustment.

WHS golf team rolling

This year’s version of WHS Bulldog golfers got off to a great start at the Columbia Falls Invitational played at Meadow Lake Golf Course. Both the boys and girls competed very well, with good scores for an early season event. Go Bulldogs and keep on representing Whitefish so well.

Annual meeting scheduled for Oct. 13

The Whitefish Lake Golf Association will hold their annual business and informational meeting on Saturday, Oct. 13. The meeting will once again have a hosted brunch with the meeting starting at 9:30 a.m. This year there are two vacant seats for men on the board of directors for three-year terms. To be eligible to serve on the board a Tier One member has to be 18 years or older and have been a member for at least five years at the WLGC. If interested in serving on the board please contact Terry Nelson for more details.

Chipping from the rough

Chip shots from the rough can be challenging without the proper technique. Try setting up with most of your weight on your front foot, and leave it there throughout the stroke. Play the ball back from the middle of your stance. Make a slow and short backswing, and then come into the ball with your left hand above and leading the right hand, just the opposite if you are left handed. At impact you should feel like your left wrist and hand are flat. Follow through so the right hand never passes the left with the finish having the clubface pointing directly at the target.
