Garden

The Whitefish Community Garden is planning its opening day for Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities include getting the garden ready for the spring, gardening information and refreshments. In case of inclement weather the backup date is Saturday, May 5. The garden is located off of Wisconsin Avenue and Glenwood Road behind the United Methodist Church. Concert

The Whitefish Community School is hosting a family-friendly concert Community Rocks on Sunday, April 29 from 3:30-7 p.m. at the Roy Duff Memorial Armory. The event includes performances by Hillary Shaw of the Morning Melodies, Brett Allen with brining the beats and robot voice, and Chritiane Hinterman strumming favorite children’s movie ballads. In addition, there will be a musical petting zoo and a spaghetti dinner. The purpose of the concert is to put on an event for the community during muddy spring months, promote music for children, and any proceeds will go toward supporting the Whitefish Community School, a nonprofit preschool in Whitefish. Tickets, which include dinner, are $5 for kids and $10 for adults. Beer will also be available for purchase. For more information, call 862-1216.

Garage sale

Columbia Falls Women’s Connection will have an indoor garage sale on Saturday, April 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the North Valley Hospital Community Room in Columbia Falls. Lots of miscellaneous items and clothing. For information call Sherry at 892-5990. Proceeds will be donated to Stonecroft Ministries.

Spring Bear Aware Presentation

Join Whitefish Legacy Partners and Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks Grizzly Bear Specialist, Tim Manley, for an interactive presentation on Wednesday, April 18 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Lodge at Whitefish Lake. Learn about bear behavior and biology, how to recreate safely in bear country, what to do in an encounter, and practice using inert bear spray canisters. This event is free and open to the public.

Art class

PMC/Precious Metal Clay Workshop for ages 16 and up is Thursday, April 19 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Stumptown Art Studio. Guest artist Malinda Goldhirsch teaches students the tools, techniques and design possibilities of this amazing 99 percent silver material that is torch fired during class that night. Art night

Stumptown Art Studio holds Saturday Night Art Fever for ages 16 and up on Saturday, April 21 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Hand-building with clay project is demonstrated at 6:30 p.m. and again at 7:30 p.m. so participants can continue and finish the same evening. $10 drop-in. Women Wednesday

Chamber breakfast

The Whitefish Chamber of Commerce’s Spring Business Breakfast series begins with a “State of the City” report from Whitefish Mayor John Muhlfeld and City Manager Adam Hammatt on Wednesday, April 25. Registration and a buffet breakfast begin at 7:45 a.m., the program starts promptly at 8:15 a.m. Tickets are $15 apiece, and reservations are a must.
