Week of events promotes walking, biking
Join Connect Whitefish, a community-based group engaged in advocacy, education, awareness and promotion of biking and walking in Whitefish, is hosting Connect Whitefish Week.
In partnership with local businesses and organizations, Connect Whitefish Week offers opportunities for the community to support and participate in walking and biking. This week coincides with National Walk and Bike to School Day on Oct. 4, a global event involving communities from over 40 counties biking and walking to school on the same day.
Saturday, Sept. 30.
- National Public Lands Day: Trail work day with Flathead Area Mountain Bikers at Spencer Mountain. Meet at the Twin Bridges Trailhead at 10 a.m. with appropriate clothing, footwear, water and work gloves. Visit www.flatheadamb.org for more information.
Sunday, Oct. 1
- Whitefish Trail Legacy Run: Hosted by Whitefish Legacy Partners, 10 a.m. at Whitefish Bike Retreat. Visit www.whitefishlegacy.org for more information.
Tuesday, Oct. 3
- Help Connect Whitefish: Bike the City’s bike path system and help identify locations for new wayfinding signs. Volunteers meet at Riverside Park at 5:15 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 4
- Bike and Walk to School Day: Everyone walks and bikes to school! Hosted by the Whitefish School District, Flathead City-County Health Department and the city of Whitefish.
Thursday, Oct. 5
- Free Pedicab Rides: Come tour Kay Beller and Riverside Parks on a pedicab. You can even take your friends on a tour! Meet at Kay Beller Park between 5-7 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 8
- Connect Whitefish Path Party — Come “Clean the Fish” in the fall. Volunteers will pick up garbage along city bike paths. Meet at Bonsai at 1 p.m. Volunteers meet back at Bonsai Brewing Project at 3 p.m. for a free beer!
