Support Great Fish Challenge during final count down
Only nine days remain to donate to the Whitefish Community Foundation’s Great Fish Community Challenge.
This unique fundraiser raises awareness and also provides an opportunity for donors to have their contribution to local nonprofits go even farther for those serving our community.
Through the Great Fish, 45 selected charities will receive a matching grant from the foundation. The match is calculated by a percentage of how much is raised by the nonprofits against how much the foundation has in the Great Fish Match Fund.
Last year the challenge raised over $1.4 million for the 40 participating nonprofits. The first year it raised $1.1 million for 32 nonprofits.
The Community Foundation has set their sights on raising even more. Linda Engh-Grady, president of the Whitefish Community Foundation, says she’d like to see that total go well over $2 million this year.
And so would we.
So Whitefish, to those that you have already given, we say thank you. To those thinking about it — we say, what are you waiting for?
It’s easy to donate, either online at www.greatfishchallenge.org, or by picking up a donation brochure.
Be sure to attend the Great Fish Nonprofit Fair and Color Run/Walk this Saturday at Depot Park. Festivities begin at 9 a.m. Donations made at the Sept. 9 celebration will be entered into a drawing to earn additional gifts of up to $100. More than $2,000 in incentive grants will be awarded at the event.
The Great Fish campaign officially ends at 5 p.m. on Sept. 15. Don’t delay, this is the season of giving in Whitefish.
