Successful season at Whitefish Lake Golf Club

| October 31, 2017 5:46 PM

The 2017 golf season at Whitefish Lake Golf Club was another successful one with several course improvements being accomplished. Completing what was a several-year project of having five tees on each hole to allow players options that meet their desires and abilities was a much appreciated addition. Improving cart paths that connect the entire course allows cart traffic with minimal damage to the turf, especially during extreme wet or dry periods. The newly completed upgrade to the North Course putting green, gives us a larger surface to place practice hole locations and accommodate the traffic that we experience on a daily basis.

Membership numbers at WLGC have remained constant over the past decade while nationally golf participation has been in a slow but steady decline. This speaks to the pricing value, course conditions and the over-all friendly atmosphere for members and guests at Whitefish Lake Golf Club. The tiered system for members, based on residency, offers our members the lowest rates in the valley on the only 36 hole quality golf course in the region.

No big course improvement projects are planned for 2018 but expect to see more cart path renovations and bunker work accomplished. These are renovations that don’t interfere with play but can greatly improve the golf experience. We also anticipate replacing up to 14 trees along the right of way with Highway 93 that were lost due to the construction over the past few years.

The board and management of Whitefish Lake Golf Club extend our appreciation to all the members and guests who belong to WLGC and play the course while supporting the amenities all year long. Our nearly 1,800 members make us the largest golf course membership base in the region.

With the course closing for the season, as of yesterday, we will put the courses to bed for winter and hope “Mother Nature” treats us kindly over the coming winter. We wish all of you a healthy and enjoyable winter and look forward to seeing you around town and next season on the golf course.
