Halloween fun
Enjoy face painting, Halloween stories and crafts for kids and the family on Saturday, Oct. 28, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Whitefish United Methodist Church. Lunch and snacks available. All proceeds benefit disaster relief efforts in Houston and Puerto Rico.
On Saturday, from 7 – 9 p.m. the youth group will host a “Scare Factory.” Teams will transform rooms into Halloween themes and compete for the biggest scare factor. This event is aimed at middle school kids, donation of canned goods is recommended for admission. All food collected will be donated to the North Valley Food Bank. The Whitefish United Methodist Church is located at 1150 Wisconsin Ave. Call Christine at 253-0942 for more information about these events.
Boo Run
The third annual Halloween Family Boo Run, hosted by the Whitefish Theatre Company, will take place on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. This Halloween-themed event includes a 5k Run/Walk with prizes awarded for best costumes. Post-race food is included. Halloween costumes are encouraged at the event but not required.
The race begins and ends at the O’Shaughnessy Center in downtown Whitefish. There are a few ways to register — fill out a registration form located on the website at www.whitefishtheatreco.org and mail or drop off the form at the O’Shaughnessy Center or also call 862-5371 and register over the phone with the box office, and same day race registration will also be available from 8:45-9:45 a.m. Cost is $20 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under. A $50 family pass is available for families of four people or greater. All funds raised from the fun run will support free theatre and music outreach programs for area youth. Pumpkin Carving
Stumptown Art Studio is holding a pumpkin carving contest for Halloween with prizes worth more than $100. Categories include “cutest pumpkin in the patch,” “count dracula award: scariest pumpkin,” “pumpkin bumpkin” for children under 12. Drop off pumpkins on Oct. 29 from noon to 5 p.m., Oct. 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Oct. 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pumpkins will be on display during Trick or Treat Street on Oct. 31 from 2:30-5 p.m.
Spook Festival
The Springs at Whitefish invites kids to its Spook Festival on Tuesday, Oct. 31. There will be a costume contest at 1 p.m. and candy and refreshments served at 2 p.m.
The Springs is located at 1001 River Lakes Pkwy.
Trick or Treat
Central Avenue will turn into “Trick or Treat Street” in the afternoon and downtown merchants will offer treats to local youngsters from 4 to 7 p.m.
Park Side Credit Union will also sponsors its annual Halloween Carnival and costume contest during those hours. The fun takes place at the credit union’s Whitefish branch parking lot at 1300 Baker Ave., behind Safeway. There will be trunk or treating, a photo booth, climbing wall, cakewalk and more fun for the whole family.
Members of the Whitefish police and fire departments will also be on hand.
