Is there really a need for more new trails around Whitefish?
As the Whitefish Legacy Partners’ Whitefish Trail progresses it seems nothing will stop its move toward Big Mountain.
The trail will make its way through some of the most secluded land that borders Whitefish and Lupfer. One example of such a place is the Lazy Creek and Taylor Creek areas that are popular landscapes for elk, grizzly, wolves and hunters.
As old Department of Natural Resources and Conservation roads crisscross these lands all ready, is there a need for new trails that beg for you to enter the backyards of residents and wildlife?
If you’re getting bored with the current trail system, just wait you’re going to have access to some of the most dense grizzly habitat in the Whitefish area. There are other options, but the legacy partners and the city decided that going through Lazy Creek was way more special than using a county road. Just wait and see will not work, the Lupfer loop is just around the corner from Lazy Creek.
So the residents of Whitefish and Lupfer should just move on, just like the grizzlies must do. The cost of this portion of the trail is not worth it in the end.
