The Bulldogs cross country team competed in Eureka last week ahead of the final two weeks of championship races.

On Thursday Whitefish ran a 2 x 1.5-mile relay, with each athlete running two legs of 1.5 miles.

Nine co-ed teams participated, along with four male-only teams.

Miles Vrentas and Jessica Henson were the winning team in a 6-mile time of 35:59.

Eric Holdhusen and Ella Greenberg (37:03) finished in third place, and Josh Weller and Braya Hobson (37:36) took fifth.

Chris Sheehan and Bridger Smith (37:30) posted the best two-man team time.

“The race was a great low-key tuneup for the championship races the next two Saturdays,” head coach Richard Menicke said. “The kids ran great and had a fun day.”

This Saturday Whitefish will head to Frenchtown for the Western A Classic, and the following week those who qualify will compete in the state meet in Helena.
