Window decorating contest set, Christmas Stroll events planned
The Purple Pomegranate is sponsoring a Christmas window decorating contest for downtown Whitefish.
They are encouraging business to decorate their window before Christmas Stroll on Friday, Dec. 8.
There will be a judged contest and the winner of the contest will receive a trophy that they can keep for the entire year. The trophy passes from winning business to business each year. Each winner is commemorated on the trophy with the year that their business won.
The Whitefish Chamber of Commerce is assisting with the contest and is promoting it in cooperation with the advertising of the Christmas Stroll, which will encourage visiting downtown Whitefish to check out the Christmas window décor.
Windows need to be decorated by the end of day on Dec. 2 and judging will occur anytime the following week, Dec. 4-Dec. 8. Judges will be looking for originality, creativity, how the window relates to Christmas and overall design quality.
The winner will be announced in the chamber’s e-news email following the Christmas Stroll and the Whitefish Pilot on Dec. 13.
Each business needs to provide its own window decorations.
In addition, the chamber is planning for the 2017 Christmas Stroll set for Friday, Dec. 8 from 5:30-9 p.m.
The evening includes wagon rides by Bar W Guest Ranch, chestnut roasting at the Village Shop, awkward family photos taken at the Great Northern Brewery and fire pits for warming up at various locations on Central Avenue. Vendors will be selling great crafts and delicious food, stores dressed in their holiday finest-many with refreshments, Get-a-Grip climbing wall, Christmas shoppers drawing, visit the Winter Carnival Float, tree lighting ceremony, Santa, and more.
